Hello and welcome!
Hi, I’m Melissa! For over 17 years, I’ve been homeschooling my three children (and a few bonus kids along the way) while helping other families create homeschools that truly fit their lives.
With a background in psychology and a focus on child development and the neurobiology of learning, I understand how kids learn best, and why a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works. My passion is helping parents move beyond the pressure of “school at home” to build an engaging, flexible education that nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.
As your coach, I’ll help you find clarity, set realistic goals, and design a homeschool that works for your family’s unique needs and values. Together, we’ll focus on what really matters: raising capable, creative, and resilient learners who are prepared for life, not just tests.
A little about my philosophy.
I believe every child learns differently—and that’s a good thing. With my background in child development and the neurobiology of learning, I’ve seen firsthand that homeschooling works best when it’s built around your child’s strengths, not a one-size-fits-all plan.
As a coach, my job is to help you discover what works for your family. You don’t need to be a completely different person to be a successful homeschooler. You already know your children better than anyone; my role is to equip you with strategies, tools, and a clear framework so you can homeschool with confidence.
I use a structured, strengths-based approach: we identify your unique needs, set realistic goals, and create simple, sustainable systems that reduce stress and keep learning engaging. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s a homeschool that fits your family’s values and helps your kids thrive, now and in the future.

Q: What do you do as a homeschooling coach?
A: There are many types of homeschooling coaches who help people in a variety of ways. My focus as a homeschooling coach is to help families transition from formal education to what I call ‘outside of the box’ homeschooling. I do this in a variety of ways:
- I help brand-new homeschooling families find their footing, develop confidence and skills, and help them get started on their homeschooling adventures.
- I support parents in transitioning from traditional teaching models to learner-centered education and guide families as they set up a learning environment that is driven by the child’s interests, curiosities, and passions, rather than a predefined curriculum.
- I encourage parents to trust their experience and instincts.
- I work with them to create spaces that stimulate creativity, exploration, and inquiry, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond textbooks and traditional classroom settings.
- I assist families in discovering and pursuing real-world learning opportunities.
A major part of my role involves helping parents to become facilitators rather than instructors. I offer guidance on how to ask insightful questions, provide constructive feedback, and create opportunities for critical thinking and problem-solving.
Ultimately, as a homeschool coach, I support families as they carve out an educational path that values curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, nurturing learners who are not just equipped for exams, but for the challenges and opportunities of life.
